Trina Discusses Kim Kardashian Relationship, Names Favorite Rappers

Trina says The Notorious B.I.G. made her "pay attention to
guys in Hip Hop."
While appearing on Miami, Florida’s 103.5 The Beat, Trina
revealed the details of her past relationship with fellow rapper
French Montana and addressed the status of her relationship
with the Kardashian family.
Prior to speaking on both French Montana and Kim
Kardashian, Trina rattled down the list of female emcees she’s
a fan of. Among the artists she named were Salt-N-Pepa,
Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, MC Lyte, and Roxanne
Shante.
The late Notorious B.I.G. was later named as the male rapper
she was a fan of in her early years. She also revealed that
Biggie was an artist who mad her “pay attention to guys in
Hip Hop.”
“I would probably say Big, honestly,” Trina said. “Because just
from Miami we had like the Luke and those artists. And those
are people I knew and that I looked up to, but then when it
came to when I first really paid attention to Hip Hop it was
like Biggie and Puff…That time when I really like fell in love
with Hip Hop. And it was just the fly stuff and the talking slick
and the stuff for the girls. And it was just that I think that
was the moment—He was the one that really made me pay
attention to guys in Hip Hop.”
With a new song titled “Fuck Love,” Trina was asked if the
song pertains to French Montana. She explained that the
record didn’t have anything to do with the rapper and was a
song that was recorded late in the recording process.
“I’m not even thinking about those people, honestly,” she
said. “I just think that of course because I’m surrounded
around that situation that’s exactly what they’re gonna feel.
That record was the last record that I had done… I don’t do
this sneak dissing. If I’m at you, I’ma say your name. And it’s
one of those kind of things I never told anybody publicly that I
was ever in a relationship with him. We were friends, and I
always built a great friendship before a relationship. And the
relationship it just never was that. It was I’m around you.
We’re good. We do business. We do music. I respect you. I
thought you respected me and that’s the situation. But I feel
like, some things you just don’t do out of respect. And if I feel
like if you’re doing something that’s aside and I’m still around
you then that’s not where I want to be. I don’t want to be in
that situation because we’re all grown. And you have the right
to go your way and I have the right to go my way. And that’s
just kinda how it is. I’m not a grudge holder.”
In regards to her relationship with Kim Kardashian, Trina says
that they’re still “close,” but haven’t spoken to one another in
a while.
“We’re close,” the Miami rapper said. “I haven’t spoken to
her. The last time I saw her was at Kanye’s concert in New
York. I introduced him [French Montana] to them…at the
Kanye West concert. I just feel like certain things are like, girl
code…I don’t feel like she’s done anything to me. If this is my
sister, I’ma rock with my sister for whatever it is. Ain’t
nobody gonna turn me against my sister. And that’s what it
is. I respect that. I just feel like it’s not what you do it’s how
you do it.”
