The OLX scam

Some of you may have already heard of this or even experienced it your selves like my brother. OLX as dramatically grown to be the the biggest marketplace for used goods in Nigeria with millions of views per day. Some criminals have taken the opportunity to advertise fake products on the site and have successfully cheated people out of thousands and hundreds of thousands. Their method is very easy and predictable but some people still fall for their tricks.
I will highlight some basic ways for u to  identify some of this fake products and to prevent yourself from being scammed.
1. The fake products are places at a ridiculously low price that way it attracts attention.

2. They will always say they have a shop or the item will be delived to u as soon as u pay the money into their account and bring the bank teller to their shop. Its a lie.

3. If u refuse to pay the money into the account they may try to convince you to meet with them at a quiet and lonely
Location. Decline

4. If you are buying the item make a quick assessment of the item before u pay, don't pay if u don't see the proposed item.

Remember the most important instruction that is always mentioned in the OLX advert is to meet in a public place. I hope this little piece of information was helpful
