It sounds crazy right? But its true i didn't believe till i saw it on BBC myself.. most of this rice imported to Nigeria, Africa the middle East even most part of the world is FAKE! Yap fake rice made from sweat potatoes, potatoes and synthetic materials (Plastic ) even cotton wool is now being converted to rice researchers say eating three (3) bowls of this synthetic rice is equal to eating a whole plastic bag which is not only non hygienic but also poisonous to humans.
The Nigerian Authority are currently working on a bill that will ban or limit the amount of rice imported into our great country, they may be doing it for the wrong reasons (boosting of the agricultural sector ) but am in full support. I mean a plastic bag contains several harmful chemicals but this people don't care.
