Five persons are feared dead when a building collapsed after a
heavy rainstorm in Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State.Three
other persons, however, escaped with injuries in the incident that
occurred at Garki village while the villagers were fast asleep on
Tuesday night.The Assistant Information Officer of the area, Nasiru
Yunusa, in a statement, identified the dead persons as Asmau Garki,
Zainab Saidu, Salisu Lawal Kilishi, Saidu Lawal Kilishi and Mustapha
Danjuma, saying they were of the same family.
He confirmed that the deceased had been buried according to Islamic
rites, while the injured persons were receiving treatment in Baure
General Hospital.
Early sympathisers to the family of the victims included the District Head of Baure, Muhammadu Farouk, Katsina State Commissioner for Information, Nasidi Danladi and Baure Local Government Administrator, Bishir Shargalle.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of Dutsi Local Government in the state, Muhammadu Sanusi, has commended the state government for donating 38 patrol vehicles to police divisions and area commands across the state.
Sanusi, who made the commendation while inspecting the vehicle allocated to Dutsi Divisional Police Headquarters, pointed out that the gesture was a clear testimony of the government’s commitment to security.
