Mother's horror as stitches from hysterectomy rip open 'like a zip' - leaving her with a gaping hole in her stomach

Clair Bartlett, 34, from Basingstoke, (bottom right) was left crying in agony after a succession of delays meant she was left holding her stomach together after her hysterectomy scar burst open (left). Her husband, Jason, (pictured with her top right) told MailOnline: 'It literally burst open like a zipper.' He dialled 999 at 5.30pm but an ambulance did not arrive at their home until 7.06pm, despite repeated calls. He said he was forced to use medical tape to try and close his wife's wound. Mr Bartlett, said: 'I was asked "can you see the intestines?" I said "I don't know - I'm not a doctor, all I can see is lots of red tissue".'
