Shopkeeper facing unpaid energy bills of £5,000 hanged himself in his storeroom hours after British Gas staff turned up to cut off his electricity supply

Anthony Waters (main picture and top right) was serving customers at his store in Little Horton, West Yorkshire,
(£5,000 is approximately N1,032,500) that's to small to kill your self for Na I mean seriously his life as by garb more worth than that

when the workmen arrived with a warrant saying his shop was going to be 'de-energised'. Despite his pleas that he could raise £1,000, one of the British Gas officers said it was not enough and then plunged the store into darkness after ignoring threats by Mr Waters that he would take his own life. Shortly afterwards, as the workmen called police from outside to alert them about Mr Waters' claims, he closed the shop and hanged himself, an inquest heard. His father, Keith Waters (top left) has hit out at the energy firm after a coroner ruled the shopkeeper had been 'put on the spot' by company staff.
