DSS official burnt to death in Delta state

43 years old Andrew Maduku, an official of the Department of State Services, DSS attached to the Bayelsa office, was set ablaze at Oghara, Delta State by a 20 year old man. According to Vanguard, the brother of the victim, Felix, said his brother who is a father of four had a confrontation with his attacker over a torchlight he shone on his face.
Confirming the incident to Vanguard, yesterday, Mr. Emmanuel Iteme, a bosom friend to the victim, hinted that the victim had been having a misunderstanding with his assailant that led to the seizure of some properties of the alleged suspect by the police. According to Emmanuel, “the victim had returned from Bayelsa to Oghara on Friday to see his family and was relaxing outside at his Ovie Palace road residence when the suspect stormed his residence, poured fuel on him, set him ablaze and fled the community. “The late Andrew was immediately rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead the next day from first degree burns sustained from the incident.”

“My brother’s assailant doused him in fuel and set him on fire for scolding the suspect, who had pointed rays from a torch light on his (Andrew) face as he walked home.
Refusing to put off the torch, my brother walked up to the suspect, and slapped him leading to a fight involving my brother and his assailant, who was accompanied by his friends. Like every law abiding citizen, my brother reported the matter at the Oghara police station and was accompanied by some policemen to the residence of the suspect. On sighting the team of policemen, the suspect fled leading to the seizure of his laptop by the police. On April 24, the suspect, who had been stalking my late brother, poured fuel on him, and immediately set him ablaze leading to his death the next day as result of 86 degree burns sustained from the incident.”he said
